Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a Rental Agreement that will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Derry, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid and full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are necessary, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Derry office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection, with refueling fees applicable for lower levels. Late returns may incur extra costs, so please inform us promptly if a delay is expected. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle may not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law in Derry, Car Hire will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant English and Welsh courts.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
